Membership Assessment

BAMC SPECIAL MEETING 5/23/11

(Meeting began at 5:07 p.m.)

 

 ATTENDEES:  Please see attached list of members in attendance.

 

ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: Julie Peterson (Executive Director)

I.                   Special Assessment

a.       Jack Quinn reports that Quorum has been met (127 members in attendance). Business of the special meeting is to vote on a special assessment to renovate the existing rapidly declining bar association building. The meeting and special assessment has been well publicized.

                                                              i.      Special Assessment is $75/year for attorneys five or more years in practice and $30/year for attorneys between two and five years and government attorneys.

                                                            ii.      The special assessment will be for a period of five years.

b.      Jack Quinn explains special committee formed to look at the exisiting BAMC bar building and lists committee members.

c.       Question called on whether to approve the special annual assessment for five years: moved and seconded.

                                                              i.      Brief discussion held about staff movement during the construction.

d.      Motion made to accept and approve the special assessment of $75/year for attorneys in practice five or more years and $30/year for attorneys in the public sector and for attorneys in two to five years for a period of five years: moved, seconded and unanimously approved. Members in attendance stood to show their support.

e.       Jack Quinn reports that the Special Assessment has passed unanimously.

 

Meeting adjourned at 5:17 p.m.
